Healing To The Nations

 News from the Kariuki Family

Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
  Isaiah 53:4-5 (NIV)

Waiting upon the Lord is hard when burdened with sorrow and pain, yet it is in the waiting that God comes and meets us. Over the last year we have lost several loved ones who were very dear to us, as God continues to meet us, we are thankful that he is a very near and present help to all who trust Him. As Moses ministered to many young people in four different locations over the last few month he encountered many walking through painful situations, with grief, hurt and trauma hindering God’s people from realizing the fullness of what He intends for them. Thankfully God is in the business of restoring hope.

At the University DTS in Antananarivo, Madagascar,  Moses was teaching students in a country that had suffered multiple cyclones that caused floods in their country with lots of damage to homes and loss of life. He was restricted to ministering via Zoom due to continuing COVID travel restrictions and closed borders. The Holy Spirit was not restricted, though, and through the teaching on Identity and Purpose in Christ, God brought healing and restoration.

In Mombasa the sailing with Jesus DTS had similar visitation during the a week’s teaching on the Father Heart of God. In Shimba Hills, Makwangani, Moses’ teaching on Biblical Worldview was interjected with a baptism service in the Indian Ocean for students, several of whom had experienced deliverance in the preceding weeks. The Spirit of the Lord imparted joy and gladness that comes with newness of life. A quick trip to minister to the Arusha, Tanzania DTS ended with restorations and healing after teaching on Identity in Christ.

Back in Nairobi Moses continues to serve local churches in spiritual guidance for some leaders and board consultation for a Community School for its development and future planning.

Thank you for partnering with us as we share our hope in Jesus,  Moses & Jo Kariuki

FAMILY NEWS

On the family front, our youngest, Katelyn, passed her KCPE well and was admitted to high school. She is excited to join her sister and brother and it is fun listening in on video chat with their college brother as they crack jokes and seek tips for high school. We are glad they can provide light moments for their brother as he adjusts to the rigors of Uni life and cross-culture experience away from his family. We are so proud of Josh, who’s completed his first year of university at Messiah and will spend the summer with Jo’s brother Wayne and family.  He’ll be working a summer job there in Madison, Wisconsin to supplement his college expenses as we trust God for more provision for his studies. The children had a break from school during April, and have now started Forms 1,2, and 3 (equivalent to US grades 9,10, and 11) Although the “break” was quite a busy time with Moses travelling and some extracurriculars for the kids, we managed to get out of Nairobi for a few days and enjoy some time in the beautiful countryside.

Jo has just wrapped up a study on the book of James in the women’s group and, after writing an integrative paper has received her Associate Degree from University of the Nations in Community Development.
