Grief hits the Time

 Hallo prayer partners,

Isaiah 60:2 Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you.
NLT

Have you seen the emphatic contrast between what the Lord is doing and what human beings perceive and do? It is easy to lose focus and give in to fear and confusion BUT the Lord continually reminds us to keep our eyes on him. Moses has had a few opportunities to preach on that here in Nairobi and motivate people to seek what God's heartbeat is and make it their passion.

On our homefront, the loss of Irene, Moses' second eldest sister, in May has been followed in September by the loss of our brother-in-law Frank (Moses’ eldest sister Jenny’s husband.) He had been hospitalized for two weeks with COVID-19 and viral pneumonia damaged his lungs irrecoverably. Pray for his wife, 2 daughters, 2 sons and grandchildren.

Our daughter Katie has struggled with her health since our return and missed a lot of school days. It put her in a bit of emotional turmoil but we are seeing light and blessing the Lord for his mercy. We all miss Josh (studying at Messiah university in the US) but bless the Lord for the opportunity he has been given. Health protocols have had their toil on Zack's athletics but he is back on the soccer team of his high school and goes in for matches and extra practice every Saturday. Marianna is thriving in High School, feeling a bit challenged by the new stuff but takes it on bravely.

Jo has not been able to resume with the old ladies care and her ladies bible study has been sporadic with COVID infections and requisite quarantine either reducing numbers drastically or necessitating cancellations. In the meanwhile she is working on her Community Development paper to get her degree.

Moses continues to serve on eldership in East Africa as different missionaries reach out for counsel and process transitions amidst our fluid times that call for extraordinary flexibility. He also continues pastoral couples counseling and is looking forward to officiating in joining a friend's daughter and her fiance in marriage to her later this year. Next week he will be going to Machakos to train DTS staff as they prepare to receive a new class since COVID disruptions. He has upcoming teaching assignments in Arusha, Tanzania and Mombasa.

Thank you for upholding the advancement of the kingdom in prayer and helping us see the glory of the Lord even though darkness covers the peoples… Please let us also know how to specifically pray for you and your precious ones.

Love,

Moses and Jo.
