Jeffery's Bay, SA

Dear friends and family,

Greetings from beautiful Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa! We can see the waves crashing on the beach from our living room, and are certainly enjoying the opportunity to live and work in such a lovely place. (Sometimes we even see whales and dolphins!) We have been here since the end of June and are working with the School of Biblical Studies Core Course (SBSCC) at the YWAM base here. Moses is leading the school, and Jo is a student.

The SBSCC here is going very well, and we’re excited about what the Lord is doing! We have 22 students from nine nations and it is wonderful to see them digging into the Word. The school in Kenya (which we left halfway through under the leadership of one of our co-workers, James) is about to end, and we are thankful for God’s presence with us during that school. Among our students we’ve had the opportunity to train are: university students from England, an engineer from Germany, lots of South African missionaries on staff here with YWAM, civil engineer from Kenya, women’s leader in Nairobi…the list goes on and on. And we are headed out all over the world, taking His life-changing Word with us! Please pray for our students that as they are equipped with tools to study the Word, they will indeed impact the nations.

Personally, we are thanking the Lord for his faithfulness to us once again. We were able to buy a used Toyota station wagon, which we are very happy with and are grateful to all of you who had a part in that. It definitely makes life much less complicated, and enables us to get around to minister much more easily. (We don’t miss the Kenyan public transport yet!!) We are also thanking God for provision of our tickets to come to South Africa, and his grace as we arrived at the last minute (two days before the school began!) especially for Moses as school leader. He has been so faithful to provide us with ALL we need for life and godliness.

Jo is keeping busy with lots of homework so far – on the average reading each book that we study 8-10 times! At the time of writing, we are preparing for a week of learning how to lead a small group Bible study, and each student will prepare and lead a Bible Study at the end of the week, so that will be a nice change from the academics, as we will be putting into practice what we learn. One thing that I’ve has enjoyed so far in the school is the emphasis on application as we study the scriptures.

The school here ends Sept. 22, and we will be headed back to East Africa the end of Sept. Moses will be teaching for a few weeks in October in Tanzania, and we will be taking some time off after that. J We have been invited to Tchad for several weeks in November/December to do some teaching in local churches there, and are looking forward to our first experience in northern Africa.

Please keep us in your prayers with all these travels before the end of the year…we need grace to live on the move like this, and also of course provision for tickets! We very much appreciate your support and prayers as we serve the Lord here, believing we will see Africa changed!

Love,

Moses and Jo
