Treasured Fellowship

Visiting Church Plant in Chad fun
It has been such a joy for our family to spend the last month here in the US, reconnecting with family and friends and sweltering in the August heat.  Favorite events, according to our kids, have been time with cousins in the mountains, youth group at Encounter, biking with their Uncle, and lots of swimming.

Cousin Fun

For the grownups in the family, we’ve treasured the times of fellowship, both lighthearted fun and deep sharing with loved ones here.  We are so privileged to have such a wealth of friendships both here in the US and spread across the globe.

As we head back to Kenya, we’d like to share a few challenges we’re facing and ask that you continue to stand with us.  Our heart and calling has always been to see workers challenged and equipped to take their place in the Kingdom.  We are especially excited about seeing on fire young people in Africa being trained and sent out.

Since we’ve relocated to Kenya, this has meant a lot of teaching invitations for Moses, both in the international body of Christ and in many YWAM locations across Africa, and consequently, a lot more airfares.

Sharing with PA Youth

At the same time we’ve been feeling a desire to purchase a home in Nairobi, as a base for our family and to serve others in ministry and hospitality.  This is a vision that is pretty much beyond us, with increased living expenses in Kenya already stretching our budget.

Malaysia Ministry
As you know, we are volunteers in ministry and God has been incredibly faithful to meet both our family and ministry needs through a few committed churches, and many faithful individuals over the years.  We’re asking Him to provide a significant increase in our regular support, as our area of influence is expanding and our children are growing up.

If you would like to be part of our sending team, giving info is on the left side column, and you can always drop us a line @ mosesnjo(at)gmail.com if you have questions or want to chat more.

From Africa To Asia With Love

We love being part of what God is doing in Africa and thankful for the opportunity to invest in the next generation of missionaries being equipped and sent out.  In March, Moses spent a week in Likoni, at the coast of Kenya, teaching in the Discipleship Training School on the Character and Nature of God.  It’s always refreshing to spend time with young people passionate about pursuing the Lord and His calling, teaching and encouraging them. Jo and the kids were able to go for the weekend with them, and had a great time spending time with students and staf there. In addition to teaching at YWAM schools and seminars, Moses has frequent invitations from local churches and loves being a mentor to many young adults God has placed in our lives.  He’s just finished a series of weekday meetings and Sunday message on the Hearing God’s Voice in a local church (photo below)

We have been so grateful for financial support to meet our family needs, as well as travel expenses for teaching and ministry trips.  Most schools in the region are unable to cover travel expenses, and we are thankful that our support has been sufficient to make that ministry possible. We are also thankful that Moses has been able to complete the first year of his Master’s program with no debt, which we don’t take for granted.  Thank you to all who been used by the Lord to meet our needs and invest in the ministry here.

After a long hot, dry, and dusty season (all of course not at  all very hot, dry, or dusty compared to what we were  accustomed to in Chad!! ☺) we are enjoying lots of rain and the greenery that it brings.  The children have just finished their first term of school this year and happy for a few weeks’ break this month.  The younger three all started at a new school in January, they’re in the primary section where Josh is in the high school.  We’re thankful that they got a place there, as the commute is much easier and school day slightly shorter.  (For those of you in the US, the “slightly shorter” school day is 7:30am to 4pm for the elementary kids, high school until 5:30pm.  Just a quick snapshot into our life here. )  Jo’s kept busy at home and being Mom-taxi, as well as enjoying new friendships at a women’s Bible study she recently joined.

A highlight of last year was definitely the privilege of visiting Jo’s brother and family in Vietnam, spending Christmas with them.  For Jo and the kids, it was the first time in Asia, and in addition to having so much fun with family (cousin time is the best!) it was wonderful to widen our horizons, explore another culture, try lots of new foods, develop our chopstick skills, and see/learn about a new country. Moses stopped in Malaysia on the way to Vietnam for a pastoral visit with dear friends there, ministering to them personally, and bringing the Word in their Sunday service.

It’s been a long-held dream of ours to have a home of our own here in Kenya, a family home which will be a place to come back to no matter where the Lord takes us.  We also would hope to eventually have a small guest cottage to host friends and co-workers in need of rest. As we’ve both been volunteer missionaries for almost our entire adult lives, and real estate prices have been booming in Kenya, we do not know how that dream will come to pass.  However, we’ve been feeling that the time to move ahead with this vision is now.  Please join us in praying that God would guide our steps and give us favor.  We’ll keep you posted!

We are planning a trip to the US in August/September, to touch base with friends and family.  If you have any leads on housing or vehicles for us during that time, please drop us a line at mosesnjo(at)gmail.com.

Many thanks for your love for and
commitment to us,
