Big Day is coming up fast

Well, the Big Day is coming up fast, only a week away from the time of writing this. Time has just been flying, it is hard to believe that next week I will be Mrs. Kariuki. Moses and I will be married at my home church, Christiana Mennonite, on November 13th. We are looking forward to sharing our special day with lots of friends and family. We are also planning on having another celebration in Kenya when we return there just before Christmas, so we can share all the fun with friends and his family there. We have been so blessed in preparing for our wedding, we have not had much time to get ready, but God has been faithful, it is all coming together.

We will be back from honeymoon (in Tennessee and Florida) for two weeks before we leave for Kenya on the 9th of December. We will be based in Nairobi, Kenya for at least the next year, and I am looking forward to being back in Kenya, getting to know his family and friends better, and getting settled in our own home. (I left my home in Mozambique last year in September, and have been moving around ever since - you can bet I am ready to be a little more settled!!)

Next year we will be working with a YWAM program called the School of Biblical Studies Core Course, which in a nutshell is a three month course teaching people how to study the Bible. I am very excited about this course because I am convinced that the Gospel is the key for wholistic development, which has been my heart ever since I came to Africa. It is only through knowing God's truths that the nations will be transformed. Moses will be facilitating the school, and doing some teaching, and I will be helping with the admin, and be a student for three months as well. It is a very intense course (read the entire Bible during those three months, and do an in-depth study of 14 books) and I am anticipating being really enriched through doing the school. We are targetting the entire East African region with the school, but most of the details and logistics still need to be worked out, so we would appreciate your prayers over our communication with the leaders there and our planning together when we get back to the region.

I am (very!) excited about married life, our future, and ministry together, I can really see so much of God's faithfulness in our relationship, who would have guessed that I would be going back to Kenya as a Kenyan? (well, almost…!) I first met Moses in 1992, when I was working in Shimba Hills, Kenya, and remember seeing him at conferences in YWAM Kenya, but when it happened, it was in South Africa. I think God had fun planning this one out! J Please do pray for us in our relationship, that we would continue to grow closer to the Lord and each other.

Please pray with us:

· For an incredible wedding day that glorifies God and is a lot of fun!

· God's blessing on our marriage.

· Our financial needs

· We are praying for a new laptop computer (about $1200 with some software) so we can keep up with our correspondence, teaching notes, our finances, etc…

· A car when we get to Kenya - $4000

· Our monthly budget is $1800, and our average current support is $1000.

· We'd like to buy some Bible study books and software to use in our ministry and of course personal study.

· That we find an apartment in Nairobi at a good price, and location.

Please pray about being part of our ministry, we'd appreciate your prayers, letters, encouragement, and financial support. We can't do it without you! As you know, YWAM is completely a volunteer organisation, every one is responsible to raise financial support to cover their living expenses. If you would like to be a part of our regular monthly support team, or just make a one time gift to help with our expenses, you can send us a note, and send a check to:

**Checks should be payable to YWAM, with a separate note saying it is for the support of Moses and JoAnna Kariuki. (Don't write our names on the check, please.)
