Facing The Giants

News from The Kariuki family
November 2011

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalm 37:23

After a wonderful and very full summer, we are all happy to be back in PA and to a somewhat more ‘normal’ routine. The kids are enjoying school and doing well with their new teachers and classmates. It is a good furlough and we are grateful to have this time of refreshing, renewing, and the perspective that distance brings. We continue to look ahead, though, to what God has in store for us when we move back to Chad next year. The children miss our Chadian family and friends, our dog Simba, the many trees around our house that they love to climb, and the fresh tropical fruit from the garden. Moses can hardly wait for God’s time to start construction and move into the next phase of our inheritance. It has been amazing to see how many skilled workers are willing to come serve... We are praying for a specific time frame, and for the materials and finances to come through.

Coming up – In early November Moses will be taking a trip to Zimbabwe with friends Rodney, David & Jody to speak at the YWAM South Central Africa Regional Conference. It will be on "Facing the Giants in Africa; HIV, Poverty, Poverty Mentality in ministry, Corruption, & Witchcraft." Missionaries & Leaders from and to the nations of Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe will be attending. Please pray with us for every conceivable breakthrough both in the lives of attendees and our own lives... We are yearning for an encounter with God. After the conference in Zimbabwe, Moses heads to Katlehong, South Africa to visit Pastor Mtanyelwa and “The Agape Family Church”, before a week in Pretoria with precious friends, the Groblers, and at the Bible School they lead. In Pretoria he also hopes to have fruitful time with the architectural firm helping us with the “Village Des Nations” Campus designs followed by a trip to YWAM Muizenberg where Moses both studied and taught Biblical Studies. The South Africa itinerary will end in Durban with good friends the Thoms. After South Africa he will have some family time in Kenya, before returning to the US.

We’re excited about the many opportunities to share about Chad, preach and teach on this trip, but it will be a long time of separation for our family, so we are very aware of need for grace and protection for us all. Please pray for that as you pray for inspiration and strength.
(Travel dates for Moses are Nov. 4th to Dec.13th)
Prayer points:
• Pray for continued refreshing and open doors for us during our time in the US
• Pray for Moses’s trip – strength and anointing for him as he has many speaking/teaching engagements, special grace for the family at home, and for provision of his airfare and other travel costs.
• Pray for our coworkers in Chad as they continue the work there!

Love,
Moses, Jo Joshua, Zachary, Marianna & Katelyn
